Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Who is this for?
Expectant mothers, mothers of young children, and their children (although the children's portion of the program is designed for preschoolers, babies and young homeschooled children are also welcome)

What do we do?
During our weekly playgroup moms have an informal time of discussion and visiting while their children play at various stations around the room.  Half way through the morning we stop for a snack, and then shift to a program for children with songs, puppets and Bible stories.  On Tuesday evenings we have a discussion group for moms (via Zoom) where we are discussing a book on how to apply the gospel to everyday moments in parenting.

When do we meet?
Wednesday mornings, 9:30 - 11:30.  Our second session begins September 21, 2022.

Where do we meet?
Shoreline Baptist Church basement, 910 Goderich St., Port Elgin

Why are we doing this?
Mothers of young children are playing a vital role in raising up the next generation, but they can often feel alone and unsure of what to do.  God has given us clear guidelines in the Bible about how who should raise our children and operate our families. We want to come alongside mothers of young children to support them during this time and help them teach their children about God.

I am not religious.  Can I still come?
Certainly. You are most welcome to come.  You will notice that we reference the Bible often.  We truly believe that God's plan for families is best and would love to share it with you.  We will also be teaching the children from the Bible.

Is there childcare?
No.  Moms will be responsible for their own children during this time.

Is snack provided?
Sometimes.  Snack will be provided for everyone on the first Wednesday of each month.  Tea and coffee will be provided for the moms each week.  Each family is asked to bring their own snack the rest of the weeks, and drinks for their children each week.

What should I bring?
Indoor shoes or slippers, a snack (except for the first Wednesday of the month) and drinks for your family. If your child mouths toys, please bring your own from home and limit your child to those toys.  Please don't bring any stuffed animals or toys for older children.

Do I need to preregister?
Not officially, but we would still like to know that you plan on coming.  You will need to complete a permission form in order for your children to participate, but you can do that when you arrive.

Can we still come if my child has a runny nose or cold symptoms?
NO, please don't, unless you know it is just allergies.  We want the Mom Walk playgroup to be a safe and healthy place to meet.  If you or your child have been experiencing cold symptoms, please do not come to Mom Walk until you have been symptom free for 48 hours.

Do you have a Facebook Group?
Yes we do, but it is only open to moms who have attended at least one in-person Mom Walk meeting.  We will do our best to keep the membership of this group current. This will help to maintain some privacy for group members.

Can we take pictures at Mom Walk and post them to social media?
Maybe.  As different families have varying comfort levels with having their pictures posted on social media, please ask permission before taking or posting any photos.  Generally it will be accepted to post pictures within the Mom Walk Facebook group and chat.

If you have any questions, please feel free to connect with the church.
